A 38-year-old man and nine others – seven males and two females – were arrested yesterday (18) in Kalkudah due to an event allegedly organised to commemorate the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and its late Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.
Police Media Spokesman Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana said that charges will be filed against them under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act.
“No one has a right to commemorate LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, who destroyed innocent lives for 30 years,” he claimed.
Further investigations will be conducted in this regard, he added. The suspects, who were arrested, will be produced in Court today (19).
