The operation of detecting those who do not adhere to wearing face masks was conducted in the Colombo and Gampaha districts yesterday, where 1,060 individuals were detected in total, stated Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.
550 out of those were subjected to Rapid Antigen Testing, and 14 of them were revealed as COVID positive, while the remaining 510 were subjected to PCR testing,the results of which will be received today.
The operation is expected to continue today as well, stated the Police Spokesperson. He urged the public to strictly wear face masks and respect social distancing regulations.
He further stated that the courts will impose a rigorous 6 month imprisonment sentence and a Rs. 10,000 fine to those who do not obey quarantine laws.
