130,000 PCR tests have been carried out so far, according to Director General Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Anil Jasinghe. Sri Lanka saw a sudden uptick in positive Covid-19 cases following the identification of a cluster at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre. Following the uptick in cases random testing is being done in locations identified by the health services. Ministry of Health Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said the number of PCR tests per day have been increased due to the current situation of the country. According to the Health Ministry, the laboratories specified to conduct PCR tests are currently issuing an average of 1,600 tests results per day while the number increases to around 2,300 on some days depending on the number of samples received.
