Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon said yesterday that 14,000 trainee graduates recruited by the previous government will be absorbed into the public service by the end of this month.
"The previous government recruited 14,000 trainee graduates in 2019 without incorporating them into the public service. However, the present government decided to absorb them into the public service after a discussion with the relevant officials," he said.
Although it was decided to carry out the appointments before last January, the work was delayed due to the temporary closure of certain sections of the government due to the COVID pandemic.
Minister Tennakoon urged these graduates not to be deceived by the false propaganda of political groups.
