15 Military hospitals inoculate Army personnel with second dose

The Sri Lanka Army stated today (28) that frontline Army personnel who are working to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the country will now receive the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Accordingly, the Colombo Army Hospital began the 2nd dose inoculation programme this morning (28). 15 islandwide Military hospitals will facilitate this inoculation drive which is in line with the government's launch of the island-wide second dose of the AstraZeneca Covishield vaccinations. Sri Lanka Army medical teams covering frontline health worker serving at all island-wide Intermediate Care Centres, Quarantine Centres and Hospitals will carry out the second Covishield jab vaccination as directed by General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army. The project to vaccinate frontline Army health workers was launched in January this year through the initiatives taken by the Commander of the Army.
