180-day e-tourist visa charges approved

  • Cabinet approves $ 70 for SAARC countries, $ 85 for non-SAARC
The Cabinet of Ministers granted approval for the payment scheme for the Online Electronic Tourist Visa charges, which was furnished by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as Minister of Defence for the issuance of tourist visas.  In accordance with the cabinet approval, the tourists who visit Sri Lanka from South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) countries would be charged $ 70 and the tourists who arrive from non-SAARC countries would be subject to a $ 85 payment. However, the tourists who arrive  from Singapore, the Maldives, and Seychelles would be charged only for $ 50 due to the bilateral agreement signed with the aforementioned countries. According to the cabinet meeting that was held on 4 January 2021, it was decided to validate a tourist visa licence for a duration of 180 days, for  the tourists visiting Sri Lanka via the Sri Lanka Tourist Mobile App. The licence must be obtained via the tourist visa application process through the Online Electronic Tourist Visa Activation System (ETA). The Sri Lanka Tourist Mobile App which was introduced by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) and ETA is implemented under the Department of Emigration and Immigration.
