The National Operations Center for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak stated today (29) that around 20,000 PCR test results have been delayed due to the failure of a machine imported from China to perform PCR tests.
This was revealed during a discussion between the health leaders at the operational center.
Commenting on this, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said that the machine was in the new laboratory set up at the Colombo East Base Hospital. Due to this delay, measures including curfew have to be taken to control the spread of the disease, the Army Commander said.
