The third reading vote on the Budget for 2022 was passed in Parliament a short while ago today (10) with a majority of 93 votes.
157 votes were in favour of the Budget, while 64 votes were against the same.
The 2022 Budget was tabled in the House by the Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa on November 12 followed by the budget speech.
This is the 76th budget of an independent Sri Lanka. It is also the second budget of the incumbent government and the first-ever presented by Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
