20A: Over two thirds support Clause on dual citizens

The Clause in the 20th Amendment to the Constitution that enables dual citizens to hold public office received 157 votes in support and 64 votes against during the third reading of the legislation. Chief Opposition Whip, Lakshman Kiriella requested for a vote to be taken on the relevant Clause no. 17 of the 20th Amendment when Justice Minister Ali Sabry was introducing amendments to the legislation during the committee stage of the debate.
