In association with the ongoing investigations into the death of a 16 year-old domestic aide employed at the residence of Rishad Bathiudeen, Police have recorded a statement from another woman who was employed at the residence from 2009 to 2010, who admitted to being sexually abused by the brother-in-law of Bathiudeen.
“This woman was brought to the residence by the same trafficker. According to her statement, she stated that she was sexually harassed by the brother-in-law of ex minister Bathiudeen. The woman has been produced before a Judicial Medical Officer for observations,” Police Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated.
It was also revealed that 11 domestic aides including the deceased had served at Bathiudeen’s residence in the past. All of these individuals are said to have gained employment through the same trafficker.
Senior DIG Rohana also noted that three of these women including the 16 year-old have passed away.
