30 more Navy personnel test positive for Covid-19

30 more Navy personnel at the Sri Lanka Navy camp in Welisara have tested positive for Covid-19, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said today (24). This is in addition to the 30 Navy personnel that had tested positive for the virus at the camp yesterday (23). A naval officer who returned home had tested positive for Covid-19 at the Welikanda Hospital on the Wednesday (22) after he was suddenly taken ill. Following the incident, PCR tests were conducted on all navy officials at the Navy camp in Welisara. The Navy personnel infected with Covid-19 are thought to have been infected during the raids in the Suduwella, Ja-Ela area recently. The Sri Lanka Navy base at Welisara was declared an isolated area yesterday (23).
