31 Navy officers are among the 33 Covid-19 cases that were reported yesterday, according to Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva.
The 31 navy officers are attached to the Welisara Navy Camp & the remaining two reported to be their relatives.
According to the Navy the entire Welisara Navy Camp is under quarantine with 4,000 Navy personnel.
Navy Spokesperson Lt. Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara said that almost 2,000 PCR tests had been done.
“We have carried out more than 1,800 PCR tests and there are 293 Navy personnel who have tested positive,” he said, adding that none of them had any medical complications. He said that three more Navy officers were to be discharged after fully recovering.
“The first Navy officer was discharged on Sunday (3) and three more are set to be discharged as well.
