37 schools closed for A/L and Scholarship paper marking

By Maheesha Mudugamuwa The Examinations Department announced that 37 schools would be closed until 6 September in view of the G.C.E A/L and the Grade Five Scholarship Examination answer script evaluation. “Other schools reopen for the third term on 3 September,” the Examinations Department stated. Commissioner General of Examinations B. Sanath Pujitha said that 8,432 teachers would participate in the G.C.E (Advanced Level) examination paper marking. He said that 37 schools would be closed for the Phase I answer script evaluation of the G. C. E. (Advanced Level) examination scheduled to be held from 23 Aug. to 5 Sept. The schools used as answer script evaluation centres are Royal College Colombo 07, Nalanda College Colombo 10, Susamayawardena Vidyalaya Colombo 08, Clifton Girls College Colombo 10, Hindu Balika Vidyalaya Colombo 04, Velapura Maha Vidyalaya Kalutara, Gnanodaya Maha Vidyalaya Kalutara, Bandaranayake Vidyalaya Gampaha, Anura Central College Yakkala, Furguson High School Ratnapura, Gankanda Central College Pelmadulla, Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya Kurunegala, Maliyadeva Vidyalaya Kurunegala, Wayamba Royal College Kurunegala, Central College Kuliyapitiya, St. Joseph Girls College Kegalle, Kegalu Vidyalaya Kegalle, Kingswood College Kandy, Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya Kandy, Seethadevi Balika Vidyalaya Kandy, Ranabima Royal College Kandy, Silvester College Kandy, Anuradhapura Central College, Vidyaloka College Galle, Sudharma Vidyalaya Galle, Sujatha College Matara, St. Thomas College Matara, Rahula College Matara, Hali-Ela Central College, Uva Central College Badulla, Winston High School Batticaloa, St. Michael College Batticaloa, Vavuniya Tamil Central College Vavyuniya, Jaffna Central College, Hindu College Jaffna, and Kokuvil Hindu College Jaffna. Pujitha stated that the answer script evaluation of the Grade 5 Scholarship examination would be held from 15 to 21 August and 6,848 teachers would participate in the Grade 5 Scholarship examination paper marking.
