About 400 plantation workers living in the PS section of the Chapelton Estate, which is under the control of the Bogawantalawa Health Medical Officer's Office, have been sent for PCR tests.
So far, 16 positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported in that area.
Infected people are being identified and referred to treatment centers.
A 78-year-old man infected with the Covid virus had also died recently, said Bogawantalawa Public Health Inspector Kadirvel J. Ganesh said.
He added that more than 100 people have contracted the Covid-19 virus in the Bogawantalawa Medical Officer of Health area.
It was decided to isolate the PS section of the Chapelton Estate in the Bogawantalawa Health Medical Area in the Nuwara Eliya District from yesterday (25).
