A total of 4,395 COVID-19 patients have been reported from the prisons cluster as of today. Eight patients, one male inmate and seven male suspects, were identified as patients today.
Among them, the highest number has been reported from the Welikada Prison, with 886, followed by the Magazine Prison, with 870. Mahara Prison has reported a total of 816 patients, while 436 patients were reported from the Colombo Remand Prison. The Negombo prison has reported a total of 363 patients.
A total 139 prison officials has been diagnosed with COVID-19, while 3,528 male suspects were among the patients. Further,234 female suspects were identified as patients, while 489 male inmates and 11 female inmates were also diagnosed.
Further, a total of nine deaths have been reported from the prison cluster.
