The number of people injured when a bus plunged into a precipice in the Podaiswatta NC area on the Hatton-Dayagama road has risen to 49, police said.
The accident occurred when a private bus traveling from Dayagama to Hatton veered off the road at around 6.30 am today (02).
The driver of the bus including school children were injured in the accident and is being treated at the Hatton Glancan Hospital, the Police Media Unit said.
Investigations have revealed that the bus had fallen into a precipice of about 25 feet due to a technical fault in the front wheel of the bus.
