Travel ban imposed on five policemen in murder case

27 Feb 2019

Five police constables who have been suspected of evading the CID over the abduction and murder of two businessmen from Rathgama have been issued an overseas travel ban by the Galle Magistrate’s Court today (27). The request had come through from the CID to issue the ban on suspicion that the suspects could flee the country and thus evade the police and the CID. In addition, the CID has been instructed to produce seven items recognized as evidence in connection to the case including a mobile phone belonging to one of the arrested suspects. Further, the court remanded the two police officers, IP Kapila Nishantha and a sub-inspector of Southern Province Special Investigations Unit (SIU), who were arrested in connection with the murders, until March 13.
