The licenses of about 50 buses that did not follow proper health guidelines to prevent spread of COVID-19 have been suspended.
State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama stated that investigations are being carried out into identifying buses that do not follow health guidelines.
The State Minister expressed these views at a media briefing held in Kandy.
“In these cases, one or two people in certain depots were infected with COVID. We had to quarantine 68 drivers and bus conductors. Therefore, we have advised the passengers to be extra cautious. The SLTB buses adhere to guidelines. A 90 percent of the private buses also follows that advice. We have so far banned nearly 50 non-compliant licenses," he said.
