The 500mn loan from India for fuel purchases is not connected to the Provincial Council elections, confirmed Cabinet Spokesperson Dullas Alahaperuma.
He made this statement during the cabinet media brief held yesterday (19).
Alahaperuma went on to state that and conditions can be made as all loans received have conditions,
"The loan from India does not depend on the Provincial Council elections, although a loan does have its conditions. But, I can confirm that holding the Provincial Council elections is not one of the conditions posed by the Indian Government," stated Alahaperuma.
This response from Alahaperuma was for a question posed by a journalist whether the loan from India would be granted based on the decision by Sri Lanka on whether or not to hold the Provincial Council elections.
