It was more or less the expected result. Assisted by skipper Ashain Daniel’s return of 5/14, the unbeaten St. Joseph’s College, Colombo emerged undisputed champions of the Singer Trophy Under-17 Division I Inter-school Cricket Tournament, on Wednesday, 19 September.

They won the toss and elected to bat but were bowled out for 235 in 47.1 overs. Their No.7 bat Lakshan Gamage scored 97 in 66 balls, with five boundaries and seven sixes.
Sheran Fonseka (24), Johanne De Silva (24), Dineth Jayakody (21), Shevan Rasool (13) and Yesith Rupasinghe (13) helped them build a competitive total.
Lakshan Gamage and Sheran Fonseka added 88 runs for the ninth wicket.
Janishka Perera took four for 46. Thadula De Silva took three wickets and Nadeera Fernando took two.
Sebastian reply –
St. Sebastian’s in their reply were bowled out for 158 in 45.1 overs. Dunith Jayatunga scored 68 in 99 balls with nine fours. Openers Jayatunga and Savindu Rodrigo made 66 for first wicket.
