Eight suspects have been remanded until 25th June over the killing of Chairman of the Lanka Self Employed Professionals’ National Three-Wheeler Federation, Sunil Jayawardena in Mirihana. Jayawardena was assaulted to death yesterday (10)  following a heated argument that broke out in front of a leasing company. He had reportedly appeared for a three-wheeler driver whose vehicle had been seized for defaulting leasing payments. Jayawardena had recently posted a video on social media requesting President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to take action against the 'Leasing Mafia'. He claimed that most of leasing companies were using the underworld to seize three-Wheelers. He was to contest the August 5 general elections as an independent candidate.
