A/L examination date reconsidered: Committee appointed to consider

23 Jun 2020

By Sarah Hannan Giving due consideration to the concerns raised by students sitting for their Advanced Level (A/L) examinations, the Ministry of Education is to reconsider the date for the exams once schools commence. Ministry of Education Secretary N.H.M. Chithrananda announced that a special committee under his supervision has been appointed to consider the proposals that will be collected by the regional directors of education in the coming weeks. “The proposals that are gathered from students and teachers will be first gathered by the respective school principals once schools reopen for the sections on 6 July. These proposals will be subject to review by the special committee that I will chair, and a suitable date will be decided,” Chithrananda explained. The GCE A/L examination for 2020 (local) was set to be held from 7 September to 2 October previously. However, the delay in reopening schools raised concerns about the timing. A decision is to be taken by the special committee within the first week after schools reopen.
