The recently launched Ru Boutique is a luxury boutique hotel conveniently located at the heart of the last kingdom of Sri Lanka, right in front of Kandy Lake. 
Owned and operated by the newly formed Kings Lake Hotel Management Company in association with the Dinapala Group, Ru Boutique Hotel offers a mixture of modern and stylish accommodation of 14 rooms including two suites, courtyard rooms, family rooms, lake view rooms, and a single apartment targeting long stayers, all with luxury amenities and services.
The gorgeous venue offers up a cosy living space for guests who may wish to stay a little longer simply to bask in the ambience of the ancient kingdom amidst the quiet surroundings and privacy courtesy of the property despite its central location.
Ru Boutique proved to be an excellent time. During our one-night stay, the property’s ever convenient location came in quite handy giving us the opportunity to pop out and do a quick bout of shopping at the Kandy City Centre and enjoy a tranquil stroll back to the property along the lakeside in the drizzling rain. A romantic experience to say the least, the hustle of the Avurudu shoppers and April showers took nothing away from the serenity offered up by the slightly disturbed waves hitting the lakebed.
Walking back as the sun set on the city, Ru Boutique truly shines at night time as the gorgeous location lights up beautifully. Its interior complements its overall atmosphere highlighting key Kandyan traditional elements in its décor evoking a sense of nostalgia and grandeur reminiscent of the kingdom’s heritage and past.
Speaking with Ru Boutique Managing Director Ruvini Dinapala, she said that in procuring the space for the hotel, they combined two residences and re-built the property, leaving a large space for a garden and sitting and relaxing areas. She also
added that the rooms are well affixed with all necessary modern amenities, and guests will also have access to 24-hour room service.
The boutique hotel also boasts a rooftop swimming pool, pool table, and special facilities to host mini-conferences, with Dinapala sharing that they also plan to introduce high tea and other activities soon.
Ru Boutique also hosts a mini cafeteria and a restaurant space featuring food items including ice creams, pastries, and fruit juices, all of which are homemade.
Interestingly enough, the resident culinary expert at Ru Boutique, their executive chef, happens to specialise in Italian cuisine. Therefore, you are in for some expertly prepared dishes with their signature dish being a seafood platter – somewhat of an oddity for the hill country, but delicious all the same. Besides your daily three meals of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Ru provides a selection of cuisines with a full-style English breakfast and Sri Lankan cuisine as well.
With quick access to the many landmarks in and about Kandy, guests are also given the opportunity to visit nearby areas of interest such as the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Gadaladeniya Viharaya, Embekka Devalaya, and Lankathilaka Viharaya, to where excursions can be arranged courtesy of the management.
