Abhayapura in Polonnaruwa has been re-opened today, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said.
The area was placed under lockdown and was categorized as isolated following the detection of a COVID-19 patient from Pumadiya village in Abhayapura.
Abhayapura in Polonnaruwa was declared an isolated area on 22 April along with 21 other villages.
Entry to and exit from these areas were completely prohibited and the Army and Police were deployed to ensure citizens adhered to the restrictions.
