Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) C. D. Wickramaratne has sought permission from the National Police Commission (NPC) to transfer the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) Sanjeewa Medawatte.
Accordingly, the Acting IGP has sought approval from the NPC to transfer the DIG to the Police Welfare Division.
Meanwhile, four officers attached to PNB were interdicted last evening over suspected links with drug dealers.
The officers in question were detained by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and questioned the officers on 25 and 26 June.
