As a result of the increased number of motor vehicle accidents, Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that severe action will be taken against those who engage in motorcycle racing for entertainment at night.
"The police have received information regarding persons engaging in motorcycle racing for entertainment at night. This has led to an increase in the number of reported motor vehicle accidents. A search operation would be carried out to find out the persons involved in the motorcycle race and its organizers," he stated.
He pointed out that people who rent motorcycles for racing will also be investigated. Further, legal action would be taken against those involved in motorcycle racing through the traffic police.
