Activities of rice mills have been declared essential services by the government until further notice.
The measure has been taken to ensure continuous supply of rice in the country.
The measure was discussed during a meeting held yesterday (9) with the participation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to expedite the distribution of essential food items to every part of the country.
