The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) yesterday (14) warned the Government that any acts of suppression will be strongly opposed.
Speaking at a media briefing, JVP Politburo Member Wasantha Samarasinghe claimed that because the Government is afraid that the people will take to the streets, they have used the Director General of Health Services to issue circulars to suppress protests against the Government.
“Farmers in Anuradhapura who are staging protests without fertiliser will have to obtain the permission of the Director General of Health Services for future protests, otherwise they will call it illegal. People cannot be confined to their homes in such situations,” he said.
Samarasinghe warned that the JVP is ready to rally the people of the country to oppose any moves which point at suppression.
