The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to reimburse $ 85 million spent by Sri Lanka on purchasing Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines.
This was confirmed by State Minister of Production, Supply, and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana.
The ADB took this decision taking into account the transparency in the purchase procedure and progress of the national inoculation programme, he added.
According to the Ministry of Health’s Epidemiology Unit, as of Tuesday (28), 11,971,609 Sri Lankans have received the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine, while 10,999,976 citizens have received both doses of the vaccine.
