Army Commander General Shavendra Silva says that the Army has stopped administering the Pfizer vaccine as the second dose of AstraZeneca in the Colombo Municipal Council area.
He added that by the third week of July, 1.4 million AstraZeneca vaccines will be available.
Meanwhile, the Epidemiologist of the Colombo Municipal Council, Dr. Dinuka Guruge, has posted a note on her Twitter account stating that those who received text messages today (08) should not come to receive their jabs.
The first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine was administered to people between the ages of 55 and 69 in the Colombo Municipal Council area yesterday (07).
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health says that the percentage of people over the age of 60 receiving the Covid-19 vaccine is declining.
Health officials point out that vaccination against Covid is essential in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the first dose of Sinopharm vaccine will be given to people over 60 in Anuradhapura today, said the Director of the Anuradhapura General Hospital, Dr. Dulan Samaraweera.
