Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Divisional Secretary Y.K.S. Jeewamala said that measures were in place to move the affected families to safe locations, should the situation change with more rain which would be experienced. Close to 100 families in the Colombo Divisional Secretariat were affected by inundation with the worst affected area identified to be Madinnagoda down Kalapaluwawa Road. When The Morning Photo Desk had visited the area, the residents had said that when they had gone to their designated safe house which is the nearest temple, they had been asked to return to their homes. “We had to return to our houses, which were partly inundated, and wait it out until the water receded,” an area resident had told our photojournalists.
