Advertising veteran Lilamani Dias passes away

The Founder of Lintas (now known as Lowe LDB) and the mastermind behind the popular Sunlight commercial Lilamani Dias Benson passed away today (11). Benson began her professional life as an English Writer and then got into a job in advertising at the Grants Group. Later she was approached by J Walter Thompson, one of the first multinationals to set up in Sri Lanka, who hired her first as Creative Director, and then soon appointed her as their first Sri Lankan Agency Head. After several years, she was head hunted by the Interpublic Group of New York to set up the Lowe Lintas brand in Sri Lanka, at the special request of their biggest multinational Client, Unilever. Lilamani became the Founder CEO of LDB Lintas, which later changed it name to Lowe LDB and is presently known as MullenLowe Sri Lanka. LDB Lintas soon became one of the leading Ad Agencies in Sri Lanka and the only Ad Agency in the country to be appointed a 'Superbrand'. She was recognised with the Zonta Award for Advertising the ‘Inspirational Woman of the Year’ award presented by Women in Management and IFC. She was the mastermind behind the popular and memorable Sunlight media campaign.
