The Attorney General (AG) has filed indictments in Colombo High Court against former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka over an accident that took place in 2016.
Indictments have been filed for causing grievous injury to a person by rash & negligent acts and on other charges.
A youth was injured when his motor cycle collided with a vehicle reported to be owned by Ranawaka on 28 February 2016.
In June 2016, the Colombo Additional Magistrate Chandana Kalansooriya said due to insufficient evidence, Ranawaka could not pronounced a suspect.
However the Minister’s driver was named a suspect in the case. According to the Police, CCTV footage of the accident was found to have been erased.
In Novemeber last month, investigations were re-launched into the incident as two youth had come forward to provide evidence regarding the incident.
