Attorney General(AG) Dappula de Livera has met Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya last night (28) over concerns raised on his instructions issued to the police to arrest interdicted Judge Gihan Pilapitiya.
The AG on the 23 of January instructed the Director, Colombo Crimes Division(CCD) to obtain a warrant for the arrest of Pilapitiya.
However, on Sunday (26), the Constitutional Council(CC) decided to summon de Livera to be questioned over the instructions he had issued to the Police to arrest Justice Pilapitiya.
The AG’s Coordinating Officer Nishara Jayaratne had stated that the order was issued for the charge of engaging in a telephone conversation with then State Minister MP Ranjan Ramanayake, with regard to a case which was taken up when Pilapitiya was the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
