Attorney General (AG) Dappula De Livera PC has requested Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya PC to appoint a Trial-at-Bar to try the suspects of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Treasury Bond Scam of 2016.
AG’s Co-ordinating Officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne added that the suspects in the case are former Finance Minister and incumbent Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake, former CBSL Governor Arjuna Mahendran, the latter’s son-in-law Arjun Aloysius, who is attached to the primary dealer Perpetual Treasuries Ltd., and eight others.
Mahendran is presently overseas, believed to be in Singapore, and the Government of Sri Lanka’s extradition request is presently before the Singaporean authorities.
