All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) MP Ali Sabri Raheem recently expressed disappointment in the Government’s failure to honour a promise made to him.
Sabri Raheem was among the ACMC MPs who voted in favour of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, when their party as well as the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) had decided to vote against the amendment.
However, the MP has recently revealed that he had voted in favour of the piece of legislation after he was promised a state ministerial portfolio in the Government and the chairmanship of the development committee in his constituency.
It was also revealed that the perks were offered to the MP by Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa since Sabri Raheem had further stated that he believed Rajapaksa would honour his word since he was recently appointed as the Finance Minister.
The ACMC, led by MP Rishad Bathiudeen, contested under the SJB at the last general election.
