All citizens over 18 to be fully vaccinated by end November

Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has iterated that all citizens of Sri Lanka who are over the age of 18 will be fully vaccinated before the end of November, while the vaccination of all citizens over the age of 30 is scheduled to be completed by mid-September. This statement was made when Rambukwella called on the Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka Andres Garrido this morning (26). During the meeting, the Minister of Health told the Cuban Ambassador that the possibility of inoculating Sri Lankan citizens with a third booster dose is on the cards as well. Meanwhile, Garrido was requested to provide an opportunity for an exchange program to share the experience, knowledge and technology of the world-class Cuban health service in Sri Lanka, to which he pointed out that medical equipment and health services contribute to the country's foreign exchange. Both the Minister and the Ambassador agreed that vaccination alone cannot prevent the global catastrophe and that it is essential to adhere to proper health guidelines. Maj. Gen. Specialist Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Health was also present on the occasion.
