A 26-year-old woman from Madapatha, Jaburaliya was arrested yesterday (16) for assisting in the sale of a 15-year-old girl for various activities during further investigations by the Colombo Women and Children Protection Authority.
The woman was remanded after being produced before the court.
During the interrogation of the woman, it has been revealed that various persons who had bought the girl.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that investigations are underway.
A person was arrested by the Mount Lavinia Police recently for the sale of a 15 year old girl.
He has also been accused of selling her over the internet.
The suspect was remanded after being produced before the Moratuwa Magistrate's Court.
Investigations have revealed that the girl has been sold to various people daily for 4 months.
