Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader, MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (28) questioned the governing party in Parliament on who holds the Cabinet portfolio of Defence.
Speaking during the debate on the Vote on Account (VoA) presented by the Government for requesting funds for the remaining four months of the year, Dissanayake asked the Government to name its Defence Minister since over Rs. 170 million has been allocated in the VoA to the Defence Ministry.
The governing party members refrained from responding to the question.
Dissanayake then charged that while the State Ministerial portfolio for Defence is held by Chamal Rajapaksa, the Cabinet portfolio is being held by the President despite the fact it not being mentioned in the gazette.
