Jathika Jana Balawegaya MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake today proposed in Parliament to set up a national mechanism to face COVID-19 challenges.
He said this national mechanism should be represented by all political parties.
Speaking in Parliament, MP Dissanayake said COVID-19 had entered Parliament as well.
“Two Parliament correspondents and at least one security officer had contracted the virus while 25-30 staff members are undergoing quarantine,” he said.
He said the military and health officials have brought the COVID-19 situation under control but said a national mechanism is needed in case the existing system breaks down.
