The appeal filed by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara, challenging the Colombo District Court’s order on the membership of 99 UNPers (United National Party) who are members of the SJB, was dismissed yesterday (21) by the Civil Appellate High Court of Colombo.
The Civil Appellate High Court has ordered appellant/petitioner Madduma Bandara to pay a sum of Rs. 25,000 as legal cost.
The Colombo District Court on 22 June had refused to issue an enjoining order against UNP office bearers citing that the complainant had failed to disclose true facts relating to the members’ expulsion from the party.
Madduma Bandara then filed an appeal before the Civil Appellate High Court, challenging the Colombo District Court’s order.
However, the court has dismissed the appeal and refused to issue an enjoining order preventing the UNP Working Committee’s decision.
