The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a (MoU) memorandum of understanding with M/s Adani Green Energy Limited of India to develop wind power stations in Mannar and Poonerin.
Following negotiations, approval was given to accept a price of $8.26 cents per KW for electricity generated under the project, with the tender awarded to M/s Adani Green Energy SL Limited for 20 years.
According to the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara, the current exchange rate is considered as, $1 = Rs 300, and the cost of energy will be Rs 24.78 per kWh. The current average cost of energy in SL is Rs 39.02 per kWh.
