The Indian government has eased its ban on onion exports to Sri Lanka, allowing up to 10,000 metric tons to be shipped, affirming its commitment to its Neighbourhood First policy.
This decision comes after a surprise extension of the ban last month, which caused price hikes in several countries reliant on Indian onion imports.
Accordingly, India's gesture extends beyond Sri Lanka, as it also plans to supply onions to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), underscoring its dedication to key allies.
