A transformer located within the Cancer Unit premises of the National Hospital in Galle caught fire today (16), causing a temporary disruption to the unit's electricity supply.

Hospital authorities, together with the Galle Municipal Council Fire Brigade, acted swiftly to bring the blaze under control, according to reports.

No injuries were immediately reported, while the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Further investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
