The Government has reduced the special commodity levy on imported onions and rice from yesterday (28).
Thereby, the Special Commodity Levy of Rs. 65 per 1kg of rice has been dropped to Rs. 1. This will be in place until 3 April 2024.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe ordered that the tax levied from imported other onions (Rose Onions) be slashed to Rs. 10 per kilogram until 30 April 2024.
