Covid-19 patients showing no symptoms are to be moved to alternative facilities such as teacher training colleges and other quarantine centers, said chief epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera.
He told The Morning that these alternative measures are already being practiced at certain quarantine centers.
Dr. Samaraweera stated that this decision was made in order to avoid the overcrowding of hospitals with Covid-19 patients. Though hospitals are still able to admit new Covid-19 patients, the need to strike a balance in making room for other patients has resulted in this decision, he said.
