The tourism sector is awaiting health authorities’ green light to begin welcoming tourists to the country once again.
“We have put forward proposals for tourism revival but are now waiting for the health services to determine when it is safe so that they can give the all-clear to begin international tourism once again,” Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga told The Morning.
He said that several plans had been put on hold due to the most recent outbreak of the Covid-19.
“Our plans have been postponed as our country’s Covid-19 situation and health sector come first. We will go ahead with our plans only after the health services have given their approval,” he added.
