Sunny Side Up: Backbenchers flock to Carlton

18 Apr 2021

A large number of backbench parliamentarians as well as senior government members last week visited the Carlton House in Tangalle to wish Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The Prime Minister kept a low profile during the past few weeks since he was recuperating from a knee surgery. The government members visited Rajapaksa on Tuesday (13), the day before the New Year. A smiling Prime Minister welcomed and greeted the visitors and spent hours chatting with them. State Ministers Susil Premajayantha, Lohan Ratwatte, and Janaka Wakkumbura were among the government members who visited the Prime Minister during the New Year.
