The Uva Province Governor A. J. M. Muzzamil has suspended the operations of the Badulla Municipal Council and it has been placed under a special commissioner.
He said the decision was taken as the council has become inactive as majority of councillors are not supporting the mayor.
The Governor has issued a gazette notification suspending the operations of the council and appointed a retired judge H. M. R. Anura Kumara to conduct an inquiry.
