Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa has been mooted as a possible candidate for the 2020 Presidential elections. Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa told reporters today that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has not selected a Presidential candidate from the joint opposition. He denied reports that Basil Rajapaksa had been selected as the Presidential candidate for the joint opposition. However he said that if he were to choose a candidate he will choose Basil Rajapaksa.
